Social Security disability benefits may be available to you if:

  1. You have made sufficient contributions to the Social Security fund for you to be considered "insured" under the Social Security Act;
  2. You are under full retirement age; and
  3. You are currently unable to work at any/most occupations, depending on your age, due to a physical or mental disability expected to last a minimum of 12 months or result in death.

If you meet these criteria you may qualify for monthly disability benefits from the Social Security Disability Benefit Program.
